Why Is Imani Capri Running for Reelection As A Democratic Central Committee Member?

Imani Capri’s run for reelection as a Democratic Central Committee member is simple: she believes that residents deserve more engagement from Democratic party leadership at both the local and county level. Residents deserve more timely communication and information and inspiration to get involved in creating change within the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party and within the local Maple Heights Democratic Club. Imani believes that strong communities create a strong democracy and she is passionate about helping to contribute to being a positive change maker in those areas. Given that Imani has now had the opportunity to observe and learn how the Democratic Central Committee works, she is enthusiastic to spend more quality time connecting with residents in her precinct to really help them understand how they can exercise their voices and power even more locally and with getting involved in the county Democratic party.

How Did Imani First Become A Member of the Democractic Central Committee?

Imani was first appointed to the office of Democratic Central Committee Member for Precinct 2B in Maple Heights in 2022 after there were several vacancies, post election. A Maple Heights City Councilperson nominated Imani for the role after observing her committment to the city during her run for City Council President in 2021. Although she did not win that office, more than 800 residents did cast their vote for her as a first time candidate. City leaders took notice of Imani’s dedication to community service and how some residents also responded to some of her ideas and messaging.
